Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the level of understanding of Grade X students of SMAN 15 Muaro Jambi regarding measurement material as one of the basic competencies in physics learning. The background of this study is based on the finding that some students still experience difficulties in explaining the concept of quantities and units, reading measuring instruments, and applying significant figure rules in solving problems. The study used a quantitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through comprehension tests and student response questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out to describe the achievement of learning outcomes. The results showed that the level of student understanding was in the moderate category with variations in mastery of different concepts in each indicator, especially in the aspect of using measuring instruments which was still low. This finding indicates the need for more contextual learning methods, the use of direct teaching aids, and an emphasis on practicing the application of concepts. The implications of this study are expected to be a reference for teachers in designing more effective learning strategies for measurement material.
